What Else is True?

As improvisors, we are guided by the question, "If this is true, what else is true?" By answering that question together, we can create new realities with unique rules, characters, and philosophies. In this workshop, players will use grounded scenework and tag-outs as a means to explore absurdity and magical realism so as to uncover strange and relatable improvised worlds.

Let Yourself Be Vulnerable

This workshop is all about allowing yourself to be more vulnerable as a performer. Exercises will focus on accessing your character's wants, weaknesses, and emotional core. By tapping into honest, open-hearted, scene-work, participants will walk away with a more vital and satisfying style of play. It's like therapy, but cheaper... and more funny.

Elastic Improvisation

This elective workshop is all about using our whole bodies, to stretch beyond our usual choices in order to discover untapped characters, clear emotional stakes, and pure, playful game. We'll suspend judgement and self-consciousness through clowning and physical comedy exercises that get us making new faces, new sounds, and moving in new and deliberate ways. All bodies are welcome! Comfortable clothing is recommended.

 

Let’s Build Something Great Together

This workshop is all about group scenes! Learn how to de-clutter your ensemble work, share and throw focus, and maximize the fun as a unit rather than a cluster of random brains. Through guided scenes and exercises, improvisors will hone their ability to work as a team.

 

Yes And for Experts

This workshop is geared for experienced improvisors looking to reinvigorate their scene-work, get out of their heads, and feel like a beginner again. Exercises will focus on using “Yes And” to make improv simple, fun, and effortless! Folks who are in a rut or seem to be struggling with calling back scenes and characters will emerge from this workshop refreshed and ready to jump back on stage. Consider this workshop a spa day for your improv brain.

 

Character Reboot

This workshop will focus on different techniques for building new, innovative, and inspiring characters. Through individual and collaborative exercises, targeting the body, brain, voice and more, participants will walk away with new methods for discovering fresh points of view. 

Just Scene work

This class is for folks interested in improving their scene work without having to focus on form. Exercises will target a range of different skills including gifting, stage picture, status, character and more. Using a student-centered approach, lessons will allow folks to set aside their longform woes and take one scene at a time.

Tag-Out Clinic

This workshop is specifically geared for intermediate to experienced improvisors who are interested in honing their tag-out skills. Drills and exercises will focus on using tag-outs to heighten, cut to, and explore the world. By learning the vocabulary and application of different types of tag-outs performers will increase their improv IQ and up their agility in forms like the Spokane, La Ronde, Slacker, Harold, and more.

A Totally Ridiculous Character and Sketch WorkshopShowStravagranza

In this workshop, participants will be teamed up and tasked with collaboratively writing sketches and character pieces for one another at turbo speed. It will culminate with a final performance that will upend everything we believe about comedy and life as we know it.
